Statehouse reporting.
I covered the State's Legislative session-- where lawmakers allocated a biennial budget and a bonding bill. I spoke with House and Senate lawmakers often, as well as University regents. I was able to break several stories at the Minnesota Capitol. One, which exposed partisanship surrounding the University’s regent elections and would have had long-term implications on future election cycles, was aggregated or reported out by large news agencies statewide.
Electoral politics.
I also had the opportunity to cover the 2016 midterm elections in Minnesota, and reported on U.S. Congress members like Rep. Ilhan Omar. and Sen. Tina Smith.
